Letter from the
Chairman
In
thinking about my upcoming year as your
Board Chairman, I want to convey what I
believe to be important for our organization
to accomplish. Our mission statement talks
about enhancing business, tourism, and civic
interests. All those are important and will
be on our plan of work during 2007. What I
want to concentrate on is building
relationships.
We are
a small town and we all have our favorite
places to meet and people to see, and
activities both at work and at play. Most of
what we like to do is being with friends and
associates that we enjoy. I want the Chamber
of Commerce to help build the same personal
contacts. Two key events this year I want to
promote are a membership appreciation
gathering in May to have fun and to get to
know each other better. The other is our
second-ever Trade Expo in August to show
each other what we have to offer.
You
might ask, how building relations improves
business. Being one of several local
companies that sell furniture, I am
convinced that relationships have a great
deal to with being successful. People come
to our store because they know and trust
individuals who are part of the store and
want to trade with them. The same should
happen to all our Chamber members.
I hope to make 2007 a year that our members
will remember because we had fun, we got to
know each other better, and our businesses
did better through mutual support. Let me
know what you want from the Chamber in 2007
then help me and the Board. I can be reached
at (936) 327-8515 and email at
